Located in the southeast portion of Michigan, Wyandotte is a Wayne County city with a population of about 25,800 residents according to the 2010 United States Census. The city is situated about 11 miles south of Detroit. The city, positioned along the Detroit River, is part of the collection of communities in the area known as Downriver. Wyandotte was founded as a village in 1854 and incorporated as a city in 1866. John Biddle was one of the first European settlers to visit Wyandotte. Biddle Avenue is named in honor of the settler.
